Merced teenager sought in stabbing
Merced police are looking for a 17-year-old boy in connection with a stabbing Saturday at the Villages Apartment complex that sent a man to the hospital.
The victim, a 21-year-old man, was taken to a regional hospital with a small stab wound to his upper torso, which is not believed to be life-threatening, the Police Department said in a news release.
The teenager’s family appears to be cooperating with investigators, but he has not returned home since the incident. A motive for the attack remained unknown late Saturday, Sgt. Robert Solis said.
Solis said the victim is dating the suspect’s sister.
Police were called just before 4 a.m. to the apartments in the 500 block of Collins Drive.
“There was some kind of argument, a disagreement, I’m not really sure what it was about,” Solis said. “They thought it had been worked out, but the teenager came back later, and they started arguing again and he stabbed him.”
The weapon used in the attack has not been recovered, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact Merced Police Department Detective Division at (209) 385-4702 or the Tipline at (209) 385-4725.
