Merced teenager arrested in stabbing
A Merced teenager has been arrested in connection with the weekend stabbing of a 21-year-old man, the Police Department reported.
The 17-year-old suspect was booked into the Iris Garrett Juvenile Justice Correctional Complex on suspicion of aggravated assault, Sgt. Scott Skinner said.
The victim was stabbed Saturday at the Villages apartment complex on Collins Drive in north Merced. He suffered an injury to his upper torso that was not life-threatening and was treated and released at a regional hospital, police said.
Skinner said the boy’s parents brought him to the police station Sunday morning. “He was interviewed by the officers and subsequently booked,” Skinner said.
Sgt. Robert Solis said there had been an argument earlier in the evening involving the victim and suspect. “They thought it had been worked out, but the teenager came back later, and they started arguing again and he stabbed him,” Solis said Saturday.
Police said the victim is dating the suspect’s sister.
“There was some type of domestic issue involving the suspect’s sister,” Skinner said.
