Man stabbed in Atwater, suspect sought
A 26-year-old man was stabbed in the back early Sunday in Atwater, the Police Department reported.
Few details were immediately clear as the investigation unfolded Sunday morning.
Raymond Black was found around 5 a.m. at a home in the 600 block of Cedar Avenue, suffering from a deep laceration to his back, Lt. Samuel Joseph told the Sun-Star.
He was flown to a Modesto hospital with injuries described by police as nonlife-threatening.
No arrests have been made. A description of the suspect or suspects was not available.
Investigators on Sunday were still trying to determine a motive for the attack. It was also unclear whether the incident happened near the house where Black was found or elsewhere, police said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Anthony Cardoza. Tips are confidential and callers may remain anonymous.
