Merced pizzeria robbed by man with gun
A man with a gun robbed a Merced pizza restaurant Sunday night, the Police Department reported.
There were no injuries and no reports of any shots fired, Sgt. Jay Struble told the Sun-Star.
Few details could immediately be confirmed.
Police said, around 9:45 p.m., a man with a bandana covering his face entered Me and Ed’s Pizzeria, 3524 G St. in the Yosemite North Shopping Plaza, and took an undisclosed amount of money from the store.
Investigators said it was not immediately clear how the man got into the store at the time, as the restaurant had been closed for about 45 minutes.
“We do know it was from inside the store; not from a driver, but we’re still (investigating) where the money was in the store when he took it,” Struble said.
Police said the man was also wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Officers were still working to confirm a complete description of the robber late Sunday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Merced Police Department at (209) 385-6905. Tips are confidential and callers may remain anonymous.
