Two suspected burglars were arrested in Merced for stealing almost everything inside of a Mariposa home, the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office reported Thursday.

On Sept. 14, homeowners in the process of moving into their recently built house on Old Highway in Cathy's Valley came home to an almost empty house, police said. What the alleged robbers didn't take, officials said, they damaged.

Police said the items stolen include: two Polaris utility vehicles; TVs; a washer and dryer; all the living room furniture; all kitchen appliances; the dining room table; mattresses; multiple dressers; art work; throw pillows; generators; wood splitter; window shades; coffee cups and the dog bowl.

Mariposa Sheriff detectives served a search warrant on Oct. 25 for a home in the 1000 block of Loughborough Drive in Merced, police said. Inside detectives found Crystal Gonzalez-Alatorre, 24, and Christopher Reyes, 36, along with multiple items matching the ones taken from the Mariposa home.

Both suspects are from Merced, police said, and were booked into the Mariposa County Adult Detention Facility on Wednesday on suspicion of felony burglary, receiving stolen property and for conspiracy to commit a crime.

"This is a significant theft," Sheriff Doug Binnewies said in a statement. "Scary for many neighbors. I'm very happy with all of the effort that our deputies and detectives applied to this case. I'm glad that the thieves will have to stand in front of a judge and face the consequences, and I hope the victims can find some comfort in the arrests."
