Atwater police search for robber

A man wearing a brown beanie-style hat and sunglasses snatched cash from an Atwater grocery store clerk and her register, escaping on foot, the Police Department reported.

There were no injuries and no weapons were used in the robbery, Lt. Samuel Joseph said.

Police responded about 4:30 p.m. Monday to R-N Market, 231 Atwater Blvd., after a man entered the store and took an undisclosed amount of money. Officers said he grabbed cash out of the hands of a female clerk and the register.

He last was seen running east from the store, Joseph said.

Police described the thief as “a large-framed Hispanic male” wearing a white T-shirt and tan pants along with the brown beanie-style hat and black sunglasses.
