Two people were arrested Saturday in Los Banos for a series of alleged car burglaries, the Los Banos Police Department reported.

Tracy Conklin, 51, and Samuel Foster, 45, of Los Banos are accused of stealing thousands of dollars of stolen items from cars, police said.

Officers tracked both of them down at a hotel room in the 2100 block of Pacheco Boulevard where stolen items were found in connection to a car burglary in the 2100 block of South 12th Street. Conklin was arrested in connection to the burglary along with several other burglaries in Los Banos, police confirmed.

Foster escaped through a back window but was captured later in the day at a storage unit, police said.

Conklin and Foster were booked into the Merced County Jail and charged with grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and other charges, police said.

"We’d like to take this opportunity to remind our residents to lock your vehicles and do not store valuables inside any vehicle," officials said in a statement. "Leaving valuables inside our vehicles makes us an easy target for thieves, so please take the extra time to secure your property."
