Merced CHP's K-9 sniffed out drug money. Someone made a meme out of it
Merced-area officers had a little fun with a meme of their star K-9 after her latest find of more than $165,000 in drug money, the California Highway Patrol said on Friday.
An officer stopped a man they say was speeding about 3 p.m. Wednesday on northbound Interstate 5 north of Russell Avenue, according to CHP.
Officers suspected the man was involved in criminal activity so they called in Laika, who alerted to smelling narcotics in the car. Inside the car, officers found $169,900 in cash inside two plastic bags.
"It is believed that the currency was derived from the sale of narcotics," CHP said in a news release "The currency was seized and charges against the suspect are pending."
An enterprising officer took a photo of Laika with her mouth open in which she looks pleased with herself, and turned it into a meme. "The face you make when someone thinks they can hide $165,000 in drug money from you," it reads.
The driver's name was not available.
