A Winton man was subdued with a stun gun Sunday after police said he struggled with officers who were trying to question him after he was spotted on Maple Street in Atwater.

Dylan T. Hurrle, 38, was booked into the Merced County jail on suspicion of resisting peace officers and falsely identifying himself to police. He remained in custody Monday morning on $12,500 bail, according to booking records.

“He’d been involved in a domestic dispute earlier (April 19) and officers had found two guns in his car, but were not able to locate him at the time,” Lt. Samuel Joseph said.

Joseph said Hurrle is on probation and not allowed to have any firearms.

Officers spotted Hurrle about 9:20 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Maple Street and attempted to ask him about the firearms.

Hurrle fled from the officers and kicked over a fence during a short foot chase, police said. He continued to struggle after he was captured, Joseph said, and officers used a stun gun to subdue him.
