Search continues for Livingston slaying suspect
Livingston police are asking for the public’s help with locating a 25-year-old man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in March.
Jorge Daniel Vera is wanted in connection with the March 29 stabbing death of Edardo Olmos, 27, of Atwater, police Chief Ruben Chavez said.
Vera has been on the run since the incident and investigators are hoping someone from the public will help police locate him.
“Somebody in the community knows where he is, and the victim’s family deserves to have some closure, some justice,” Chavez said. “We want to know exactly what happened, and he’s the person that can tell us that.”
Vera is accused of stabbing Olmos nearly a dozen times outside a home in the 1400 block of Eighth Street in Livingston. Police believe Vera was jealous over Olmos’ relationship with Vera’s ex-girlfriend.
Autopsy results revealed nine stab wounds on Olmos’ body, police have said.
Police said Vera came to the house in a pickup along with 24-year-old Patrick O’Bryant. Police said O’Bryant has been interviewed by police, but has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing in the case.
Police believe Vera is a member of the Bar Hoppers motorcycle gang, which officers have described as “a feeder gang” for the Hells Angels.
Officers have described Vera as about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds.
Vera’s criminal history in Merced County includes convictions for weapons and drug possession, according to Merced Superior Court records.
Investigators ask anyone with information on the incident to contact police at (209) 394-7916 or the department’s confidential tip line at (209) 394-3640. Callers may remain anonymous.
