Merced police chase ends with arrests; drugs and cash seized
A vehicle chase ended Wednesday night in Merced with two men in custody and officers seizing cocaine, marijuana and cash, the Police Department reported.
Omar Lopez, 22, of Turlock and Donnell Mays, 39, of Atwater were booked at the Merced County jail on suspicion of evading police and possession of narcotics for sale, police said in a news release.
Officer John Pinnegar tried to stop a vehicle around 10:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way, but the driver did not pull over, police said.
A pursuit ensued through south Merced, ending at East Mission Avenue and Henry Street. Inside the vehicle, police found more than a pound of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and more than $17,000 in cash, officers said.
No injuries were reported.
