Accused of inappropriately touching a child, wrestling coach arrested in Los Banos
A San Jose high school wrestling coach living in Los Banos has been arrested on suspicion of multiple charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child age 14 or 15 with a 10-year age difference, according to San Jose police.
Detectives from the San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children/Child Exploitation Detail task force and Los Banos Police Department arrested Bruce Edward Shelton on Monday at his home in Los Banos before booking him into the Los Banos Police Department Jail, according to a news release.
Authorities said Shelton, 60, has been a wrestling coach at Oak Grove High School in San Jose for more than 35 years and a former food service worker at the school.
Authorities said detectives received information in October that Shelton engaged in inappropriate behavior with the victim. Police said an investigation revealed he inappropriately touched the victim between December 2016 and February 2017. The incidents occurred in both San Jose and Los Banos, according to authorities.
