Merced police say two men were arrested recently after officers discovered guns and drugs following a vehicle pursuit.

Officers with the department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit arrested Brandon Crane, 36, and Vue Xiong, 29, both of Merced, on Friday.

Police said GVSU officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit with Crane, a parolee at large, at about 5:13 p.m. on West Childs Avenue. Crane stopped his vehicle in the 800 block of West Childs Avenue before both he and Xiong ran from the vehicle, according to a news release.

Officers gave chase and captured Crane a short distance away. Police said officers located 37 grams of packaged meth and ammunition during a search of his vehicle.

Following the pursuit officers located Xiong hiding inside of a house associated with Crane, police said.

Crane was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, drug sales and a felony warrant, according to police.
