Felon arrested in Merced after officers find gun, ammunition in home, police say
A convicted felon has been arrested after officers reported finding a gun and ammunition inside his home, according to Merced police.
Officers with the Gang Violence Suppression Unit arrested Juan Fernandez, 41, of Merced, at his home in the 1600 block of Juneau Court on Saturday at 9:12 p.m., according to a news release.
Police said GVSU officers developed information that Fernandez, a suspected gang member, was in possession of a firearm.
Officers served a search warrant at his residence and located a 9 mm handgun and ammunition, according to police.
Fernandez was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of being felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, and gang enhancements, according to police.
