A man who allegedly installed a camera in a bathroom to film juveniles has been arrested on suspicion of child pornography, eavesdropping and invasion of privacy, according to Atwater police.

Christopher Sanghera, 35, was arrested Jan. 13 after an investigation showed evidence that he installed a video camera in a friend’s bathroom. Sanghera allegedly knew the bathroom was mainly used by children who lived in the home, according to an Atwater police news release.

Police were contacted by the juveniles’ mother after she located the camera, which was attached to a light fixture. Sanghera, a longtime family friend, had visited the home on Jan. 12, police say.

Upon removing the SD card from the camera, the mother found footage of herself and two children undressing and taking showers. The footage also showed Sanghera installing the camera.

Sanghera was arrested at his home and booked into the Merced County Jail.
