Suspected gang member and convicted felon arrested after gun found at home, police say
A suspected gang member and convicted felon has been arrested after officers located a gun at his residence, according to police.
Carlos Almeida, 37, was arrested by Merced Police Gang Violence Suppression Unit officers at his residence around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, on the 1800 block of West North Bear Creek Drive, according to a news release.
Officers served a search warrant at his home after developing information that he had a gun. Police said Almeida is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possession firearms.
According to police, officers located a loaded revolver inside his vehicle during the search. Almeida was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of weapons charges and gang enhancements, authorities said.
