Suspect arrested after allegedly stabbing man during argument, Livingston police say

A suspect was arrested after allegedly stabbing man during an altercation, according to police.

Livingston Police Sgt. Ray Fong said officers responded just after 9 p.m. Saturday, to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 2800 block of Elm Street.

Authorities arrived at the home and found Armando Santos, 31, suffering from stab wounds to his head, leg and torso.

Santos’ half-brother, identified as Jesus Meza-Santos, 25, allegedly committed the stabbing during an argument between the two men at the residence where they both live. Authorities said it is unclear what the men were arguing about.

A 21-year-old female believed to be a girlfriend of Mesa-Santos was at the home at the time of the alleged assault and was not injured, Fong said.

Officers recovered what police described as a “carving knife” from the scene and Santos was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Meza-Santos was arrested and booked into the Merced County jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

He remains in custody at the John Latoracca Correctional Center in lieu of $30,000 bond, according to jail records.
