Burglary suspect arrested after jumping out of window, hiding, Los Banos police say
A Los Banos burglary suspect was arrested Tuesday after police said he jumped out a window and hid from officers, according to authorities.
Los Banos Police arrested 44-year-old Thomas Lee Marquez of Los Banos after serving a search warrant at his apartment in the 1900 block of San Luis Street, according to a Los Banos Police Department Facebook post.
Police said Marquez is a suspect in a burglary that occurred at a smoke shop business in the 100 block of Pacheco Boulevard on March 8.
Police said that as detectives served the search warrant at his home, Marquez jumped out of a bedroom window and fled from officers into a neighboring property.
Authorities said officers set up a perimeter and deployed a drone in an effort to locate Marquez. According to Los Banos Police Cmdr. Jason Hedden, officers conducted a yard-to-yard search for about 30 minutes and located the suspect hiding in a backyard shed in the 700 block of Manchester Drive, about 200 yards from the apartment complex.
Police said detectives located and recovered stolen property connected to the burglary from the apartment. Marquez was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary, possession of stolen property, felony vandalism and resisting arrest, according to police.
Marquez remains in custody at the Los Banos Police Department Jail in lieu of $34,500 bond, according to jail records.
