Merced police asking for help identifying armed robbery suspect
Merced police are asking for help identifying a suspect who allegedly tried to rob a hotel at gunpoint.
The suspect is described by police as a white male, likely in his 40s, approximately 6 feet tall with a slender build. Footage obtained by police shows him wearing all black clothing and with an unshaven face.
The attempted robbery occurred Feb. 10 at 3:43 a.m. at the Merced Inn and Suites located at 2010 East Childs Ave, according to a department news release.
Armed with a handgun, the suspect allegedly demanded an employee open the safe and retrieve the money. The employee did not have access to the safe, the release says.
After several minutes, the suspect left the hotel on foot.
