Man arrested after illegal guns found in Merced residence, police say

A man was arrested Saturday after police located illegal firearms at a residence, according to authorities.

Officers contacted Johnny Jacobo, 21, at about 6:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of West North Bear Creek Drive, according to a Merced Police Department news release.

Officers searched Jacobo’s residence along with police K-9 Stas, and located two loaded zip guns and a loaded .22 caliber Rhom revolver, according to police.

Jacobo was arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal firearms and booked into the Merced County Jail, authorities said.

Merced police ask anyone with information regarding the alleged crime to contact the police department at 209-385-6912 or the Merced Police Department Tipster line at 209-385-4725.

The public can send information via anonymous text message to the police department by dialing “TIP411” (847411) and include the word “Comvip” as the “keyword” in the text message, according to police.
