Fatal shooting in Delhi
A 23-year-old Delhi man was shot and killed Saturday, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department said.
The victim’s name was not released pending notification of his family.
Deputies responded around 4 p.m. Saturday to the area of Shanks Road and Letteau Avenue in Delhi and found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Sgt. Delray Shelton said.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he later died, deputies confirmed.
“The motive is still unknown and the case is open and under investigation,” Shelton said. “Additional details are unknown, as the case investigation is in its preliminary stages.”
No arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions have been released.
The death marks the 12th homicide of the year in Merced County and the second case in the sheriff’s jurisdiction.
