Police arrest suspects accused of firing gun during Merced home invasion

Two men have been arrested after allegedly firing a gun during a home invasion Wednesday in Merced.

Suspects Johnathan Breckenridge, 25, and Fabian Garcia, 19, of Atwater, were arrested after officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a home in the 100 block of S. Canal Street at 12:46 a.m. Wednesday, police said in a news release.

Officers surrounded the house and took the two men into custody after locating them on the property.

Authorities said the victim, who was able to flee the house without injury, told police the suspects were armed and had fired a handgun during the incident.

Merced police detectives and the department’s Crime Scene Response Team responded to investigate.

Both Garcia and Breckenridge were booked into the Merced County Jail on multiple offenses including suspicion of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon as well as gang enhancement, according to police.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
