Alleged gang members arrested at Joe Herb Park, had gun, Merced police say
Three suspected gang members were arrested at Joe Herb Park on Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Officers with the Merced Police Gang Violence Suppression Unit contacted the group of gang members at the park. Officers found a 9mm semi-auto firearm inside a vehicle associated with suspect, Gabriel Castillo, 19, and two other male juveniles.
All three suspects are validated gang members, according to police.
Castillo was booked at the Merced County Jail on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and gang enhancements. The two juveniles were booked at the Merced County Juvenile Hall for the same charges.
