Authorities investigating attempted homicide after shooting injures two men in Merced
Merced Police are investigating a shooting that injured two people on Wednesday, according to authorities.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Bi-Rite market, located at 1103 Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 11:52 p.m., according to a Merced Police Department news release.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a male gunshot victim inside the store. According to Lt. Joe Weiss, the victim was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center. Police said a second male gunshot victim was located at Mercy Medical Center. The victim had reportedly drove himself to the hospital for help.
Weiss said both victims suffered serious injuries and are recovering.
The shooting is being investigated as an attempted homicide. A motive for the shooting is not known at this time and authorities are working to locate any possible suspects, according to police.
