Officers arrest suspect accused of setting fire to playground, Dos Palos police say

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson in an incident that destroyed playground equipment in Dos Palos, according to authorities.

The fire started just before 2 a.m. July 11, in the playground area at Pierini Park, located at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Merced Street, according to a Dos Palos Police Department news release.

Police said the fire completely destroyed a playground structure and caused more than $50,000 in damages.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage of the area and identified Samuel Delgadillo of Dos Palos as the suspect. He who was located in the city and arrested Wednesday, according to police.

Police said Delgadillo was booked into the Merced County Jail.
