One suspect arrested after early morning shooting in Livingston, police say
One suspect has been arrested in connection with an early morning shooting in Livingston, according to authorities.
At about 1 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Harvest Avenue, according to a Livingston Police Department news release.
Police said the victim told officers they were sitting in a backyard when a suspect fired at them over a fence. According to police, victim was not injured.
The police investigation identified the suspect as 20-year-old Hadriano Acosta.
Police said officers located pistol shell casings and bullets as well as a shotgun shell near the scene. Police said there may have been another person involved in the shooting due to the fact that it appears two firearms were used.
“We believe there is at least one other person involved,” said Livingston Police Sgt. Ray Fong.
Police said they have not identified an additional suspect at this time and the motive behind the shooting may be gang related.
After securing a warrant for his arrest, Acosta was arrested by police at about 10 a.m. as he was leaving his residence in the 1100 block of Newcastle Drive, according to Fong. Police said they have not located any weapons at this time.
Acosta was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, participation in criminal street gang activity and shooting at an inhabited dwelling, according to jail records. He remains in custody in lieu of $999,999 bond.
