Atwater man arrested after guns and drugs are found during search, Merced police say

Police arrested an Atwater man Saturday after finding guns and drugs at a residence, authorities said.

At about 5:30 p.m. officers with the Merced Police Department Gang Violence Suppression Unit arrested 40-year-old Kamon Stephens on suspicion of weapons and narcotics offenses while serving a search warrant in the 3300 block of Virginia Street in Atwater, according to a news release.

During the search, police said officers found two semi-automatic handguns as well as ammunition and crystal methamphetamine.

Authorities said Stephens has a criminal history which makes it illegal from him to possess firearms and ammunition.
