Suspect arrested for attempted murder after Delhi stabbing, Merced County Sheriff says

A Delhi man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing reported Saturday near Stephens Street and Schendel Avenue, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said.

A deputy arrived on scene and located a 47-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck.

Additional deputies arrived on scene and after checking the area, found another subject, identified as 57-year-old Deb Grissom, walking about a block away from victim’s location with a knife in his hand, according to a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office said the victim was flown to a Modesto hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

Deputies were successful in getting Grissom to drop the knife and he was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, the Sheriff’s Office said. He remains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bond, according to jail records.
