Merced police investigating early morning shooting that sent man to hospital
Merced police are investigating an early morning shooting that sent a man to the hospital Wednesday.
Officers responded to the 100 block of East 12th Street at 12:28 a.m. for a report of shooting, according to Merced Police Detective-Sgt. Robert Solis. After arriving on scene, officers located a 52-year-old Merced man inside a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Police said the victim was flown to a Modesto area hospital for treatment of his injuries. According to Solis, the man is said to be in serious but stable condition.
Investigators located multiple shell casings at the scene believed to be from a handgun.
Police are attempting to locate anyone who may have witnessed the shooting and no suspects have been identified at this time. According to Solis, the motive for the shooting is unknown.
