Driver arrested after being found with drugs during traffic stop, Merced police say

A man was arrested Thursday after narcotics were found during a vehicle stop, according to police.

At about 10:52 p.m., an officer made a vehicle stop on a white Mercedes for an expired registration in the 1600 block of R Street, according to a Merced Police Department news release.

Police said during the stop the officer learned that the driver, identified as Anthony Ray Cooper, 43, was on probation.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer found about 100 grams of methamphetamine. Police said Cooper was cited for possession and the sale of methamphetamine.
