22-year-old man arrested in 2018 Planada homicide, Merced County Sheriff’s deputies say
A 22-year-old man has been arrested as a suspect in a 2018 homicide that happened off Plainsburg Road and Childs Avenue in the Planada area.
On Sept. 10 Merced County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Fernando Manzo, 22, in the 3800 block of South Santa Fe Avenue in Le Grand on suspicion of murder, according to a Merced County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Authorities said Manzo was found to be in possession of a firearm and a high capacity magazine during the arrest.
On July 15, 2018, deputies responded to the scene and found gunshot victim Everardo Anguiano, 19, who died at the scene.
Anguiano was initially identified as a person of interest, and deputies believe the shooting could be gang-related.
In addition to murder, Manzo is being held for allegedly being a felon in possession of a firearm and other gun related accusations, according to jail records.
