Argument over spot at pumps leads to stabbing at Merced County truck stop, deputies say
An argument over a spot at the gas pumps between two truck drivers resulted in a stabbing on Friday morning in Santa Nella, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Merced County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call at the Petro 2 Truck Stop off Highway 152 at Gonzaga Road at 9 a.m.
Deputies found the victim bleeding from wounds to the head, neck, arm and chest.
The suspect, Kuldeep Sandhu of Sacramento, was covered in blood and being held down by a citizen, according to deputies.
Deputies learned that the victim and the suspect are both truck drivers who got into a verbal argument over a spot at the gas pumps. During the argument, Sandhu took out a ceremonial knife and began stabbing the victim.
The victim was flown to a local hospital and was in critical condition, according to deputies. Sandhu was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on attempted homicide charges.
