Multiple suspects arrested in connection with Los Banos stabbing, police say
Multiple suspects have been arrested in connection with a gang-motivated stabbing at a Los Banos gas station, according to authorities.
Officers responded about 7:48 p.m. Oct. 22 for a stabbing at the Circle K store at 1704 East Pacheco Blvd., according to a Los Banos Police Department social media post.
Police did not release any additional information about the victim, who suffered life-threatening injuries.
A possible suspect vehicle was identified by the Los Banos Police Department Gang Unit and an enforcement stop was attempted on a blue four-door Honda Accord.
The attempted stop resulted in a high-speed pursuit through the city, police said, a chase that came to an end on Highway 152 east of Billy Wright Road.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Jose Espino of Los Banos, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading. According to police, a juvenile inside the vehicle also was detained pending further investigation.
Espino was booked into Merced County Jail on suspicion of felony attempted murder, participation in criminal street gang activity, evading, and assault with a deadly weapon, according to jail records.
He remains in custody in lieu of $630,000 bond.
Police identified a third suspect and on Oct. 23 arrested 20-year-old Edgar Medina of Los Banos, according to the post. Jail records showed that he was booked on suspicion of felony attempted murder, conspiracy, participation in criminal street gang activity and assault with a deadly weapon.
He remains in custody in lieu of $580,000 bond.
The juvenile was later arrested, police said, on suspicion of attempted murder, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon and participation in criminal street gang activity.
