A shooting suspect was arrested this week on multiple charges after leading police on a lengthy pursuit through parts of Merced and Fresno counties, according to Los Banos police.

Members of the Los Banos Police Detective Division and the Gang Unit drove to Firebaugh attempting to locate and arrest Isaac Perez, 27, of Firebaugh on Tuesday. He was wanted in connection with an Oct. 26 incident in which Perez allegedly fired a handgun at a 32-year old man who was not injured, according to a department social media post.

Perez had an arrest warrant charging him with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm/ammunition by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm with disregard for public safety.

Perez was found in downtown Firebaugh, driving a Honda Accord. Officers said they attempted to stop Perez using their emergency lights and siren, but Perez failed to stop and a pursuit began.

Officers chased Perez in Firebaugh and elsewhere in Fresno and Merced counties before he eventually drove to the South Dos Palos area and stopped on Community Way. Perez attempted to flee from the vehicle but was caught as he ran alongside a canal bank.

A passenger, Desirae Subega, 24, of Los Banos, got into the driver’s seat and attempted to leave while officers were apprehending Perez. Subega crashed the vehicle about a block away, in a field, police said, and also was arrested.

Perez and Subega were taken to the Los Banos Police Department Jail for booking. Perez’s bond is set at $200,000, according to jail records.
