Victims robbed at gunpoint while trying to sell game console in Merced, police say

Merced police are looking for suspects after two people were robbed at gunpoint near a park on Sunday.

At 10:51 p.m. officers responded to the 1200 block of Pacific Drive for a report of a robbery, according to Merced Police Department Lt. Emily Foster.

Foster said the victims, a 19-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, went to the location to reportedly sell a $750 Sony PlayStation 5 game console after arranging the sale through a social media account.

When the victims went to the location, they were approached by two males described as teenagers wearing hoodies and pajama bottoms.

Police said one of the suspects ran up to the victims, pointed a handgun and demanded the game console. The suspects took the console and were last seen running westbound through Merino Park, according to Foster.

Police said is it unknown if the suspects were the people the victims made the initial deal with. No injuries were reported.
