Suspect sought in stabbing of 59-year-old man at residence near Merced
Merced County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a man was reportedly stabbed at a residence just east of Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday.
At 9:37 p.m. deputies responded to a home in the 1800 block of Dunn Road, according to a Merced County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Deputies arrived and located a 59-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the back, according to Deputy Daryl Allen.
Authorities said the victim reported the attacker was a 61-year-old man who lived at the same residence. The victim told authorities he did not know why the alleged suspect would stab him, according to the release.
The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Allen, the victim and the alleged suspect appear to live at the same residence but in different rooms. Deputies are not releasing the identity of the suspect at this time. “We’re actively looking for this gentleman,” Allen said.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau is investigating the incident as and assault with a deadly weapon and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Merced County Sheriff’s Office at 209-385-7472.
