Suspect arrested after pursuit with deputies, Merced County Sheriff’s Office says
A Merced man was arrested by deputies following a vehicle pursuit that started in the Beachwood area on Sunday, according to authorities.
At 10:47 p.m. deputies attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Beachwood Drive and Cabot Avenue, according to a Merced County Sheriff’s Office news release. The driver failed to stop for deputies who initiated a short vehicle pursuit that ended the when driver pulled over on Willowbrook Drive near a park.
Deputies initiated a felony vehicle stop and arrested the driver who was identified as Angel Llamas, 36. Deputies searched the vehicle and located two sets of nunchucks, suspected methamphetamine, multiple fake $100 bills, two airsoft pistols, an airsoft rifle and a replica sheriff badge, according to the release.
Authorities said Llamas was also out on bail at the time for unrelated charges.
He was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of multiple charges including felony evading, transport controlled substance, possession of nunchucks, stolen vehicle without owners consent, revocation of post release community supervision, misdemeanor possession of controlled substance, false personation of another and an infraction, according to jail records.
He remains in custody in lieu of $190,500 bail.
