Warrant issued for woman accused of assault in Merced, police say
Merced police are looking for female suspect who is accused of assaulting a woman in Merced on Tuesday, according to authorities.
At about 12:45 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Barney Street for a report of an assault, according to Merced police Lt. Emily Foster.
Arriving officers located a woman who told authorities she was assaulted by another woman, identified as 56-year-old Heather Wright, of Merced, according to police.
Authorities said Wright is accused of assaulting the woman with an unknown object causing a laceration to her head. Police said Wright fled the scene on foot following the alleged assault.
According to Foster, Wright is wanted on a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was not transported to the hospital.
According to Foster, the assault appears to have occurred during some sort of argument possibly over narcotics. Anyone with information is asked to call the Merced Police Department at 209-385-6905 and ask for Officer Tervino.
