A man and woman were arrested on illegal weapons allegations in Merced on Monday, according to police.

At about 1 p.m., a Merced police officer made contact with Isiah Bryant, 29 and Charlene Williams, 35, who were seated inside a vehicle in the 1500 block of Ellen Court, according to a Merced Police Department news release.

Police said the officer had prior knowledge that Bryant was on California Department of Corrections parole with search and seizure terms. Following a record check, the officers determined Bryant was still on parole and conducted a search of the vehicle.

During the search, the officer located an unregistered and loaded .45 caliber firearm, according to the release.

Both Bryant and Williams were arrested. Bryant was booked into Merced County Jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person and carrying a loaded firearm with a prior felony conviction, according to jail records.

Williams was booked into Merced County Jail on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm not registered to the owner, according to jail records.
