Suspects sought in Atwater shooting
A 45-year-old woman was shot in the leg Wednesday night at the Camellia Mobile Home Park in Atwater in an apparent gang-related attack, police reported.
The woman was taken to a regional hospital for treatment, Lt. Samuel Joseph said.
Officers believe at least two men may have been involved in the attack, but only one of the men is suspected of opening fire. They were described only as Hispanic males.
The incident was reported just before 9 p.m. at the trailer park, 2355 Atwater Blvd. Police said multiple shots were fired and the victim was struck at least once.
Investigators believe the violence is likely related to an ongoing dispute between rival street gangs in Atwater.
Wednesday’s attack happened near the same spot where 23-year-old Matthew Tucker died in May. Police believe Tucker may have been shot on Olive Avenue and came to the trailer park seeking help. Investigators believe that attack also was gang related, officers have said.
