Man arrested in connection to Merced human trafficking case
A man was arrested in Sacramento in connection to a human trafficking incident that took place in Merced last month.
Thomas Anthony Ewing, 23, of Elk Grove, was identified as a suspect in the human trafficking case. The investigation began on June 15 after officers came in contact with a female who was found engaging in acts of prostitution against her will during a prostitution sting in the city of Merced.
The investigation revealed that there may be other victims at the hands of Ewing, police said. Merced officers have been working with the FBI to determine the scope of the crimes.
Ewing is scheduled to be transported to Merced County to answer on the charges, officials said.
Merced police are asking anyone with any information regarding these crimes to contact Sgt. Don King at 209-384-4188, or the Merced Police Department Tipster Line at 209-385-4725. The public can send information via anonymous text message to the police department by dialing “TIP411” (847411) and including the word “Comvip” as the “keyword” in the text message.
