Modesto police release name of Sherwood Avenue homicide victim
Modesto police on Monday released the name of a man who was fatally shot in north Modesto last week.
Arturo Esquer, 22 of Atwater was found suffering from a gunshot wound following reports of a multi-vehicle crash on Sherwood Avenue near Rumble Road.
Detectives believe Esquer was shot in his vehicle in the area but don’t know if he was driving at the time or drove off after being shot.
His vehicle crashed into another vehicle, injuring that driver, then hit two parked cars before it came to rest.
Esquer was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear said no suspect has been identified and a motive remains under investigation.
