Chowchilla police investigating homicide after person found in roadway

Authorities are investigating a homicide after a person was found with a gunshot wound in Chowchilla on Sunday.

At about 11:10 p.m, officers responded to a possible shots fired call in the 1000 block of Riverside Avenue, two blocks north of Robertson Boulevard in central Chowchilla, according to a police department news release. Responding officers found a person on a roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officer attempted life-saving measures but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chowchilla Police Department said it is investigating the death as a homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact Chowchilla Police Detective Roach at 559-665-8600.
