Delhi man arrested in the Merced County murder of 58-year-old woman
A Dehli man was arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing a 58-year old woman, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a call of shots fired at 11:38 a.m. on Thursday in the 16500 block of Bloss Avenue in Delhi, according to Merced County Sheriff’s deputy Alexandra Britton.
Deputies arrived to find that the victim, Martha Mendoza of Delhi, had suffered gunshot wounds and died at the scene, Britton said.
Merced County Sheriff’s Office detectives identified Ricardo Garcia Jr., 26, of Delhi as the suspect. Detectives served a search warrant for Garcia at 8:35 p.m. in the 16500 block of Darlington Street in Delhi.
Garcia was arrested without incident on murder charges and transported to the Merced County Jail.
No motive for the incident has been released by detectives.
