Deputies investigating after one person injured in Merced County shooting

Merced County deputies are investigating a shooting that caused injuries to one person in Winton over the weekend.

At about 3:08 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 7000 block of Winton Way, according to Deputy Alexandra Britton. The deputies located one person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

Authorities have not released the age and gender of the victim.

According to Britton, during the investigation deputies located evidence of a shooting in the area and canvassed the area Sunday looking for witnesses. Britton said a possible motive for the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been arrested.
