Authorities search for suspect accused of killing man, injuring woman in Chowchilla shooting
Authorities are looking for a man accused of injuring one person and killing another, in a Chowchilla shooting on Tuesday.
Nathan Gonzales, 20, is wanted on suspicion of homicide and is accused of killing a 25-year-old man and injuring a woman during a shooting in the 900 block of Riverside Avenue in Chowchilla, according to the Chowchilla Police Department.
Police said officers responded the area at about 3:21 p.m. in regards to a shooting. The officers located a man and woman both suffering from a gunshot wound in the front yard of residence. Authorities said the woman had a gunshot wound to her leg while the man suffered a gunshot wound to his torso.
Both victims were transported to Community Regional Medical Center and the man died of his injuries at the hospital, according to authorities. Police said officers gathered evidence at the scene and the Chowchilla Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
According to police, officers discovered a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident and additional information and evidence led authorities to identify Gonzales as a suspect in the shooting.
Authorities said Gonzales is a suspected Norteño gang member with a criminal history including a conviction for armed robbery. Gonzales is described as being 5-feet-9 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds with hazel eyes. Authorities said he may be attempting to leave the state for Texas and is considered armed and dangerous.
