Police looking for suspect after two men injured in Merced drive-by shooting
Authorities are looking for a suspect after two men were injured in a Merced shooting on Sunday.
At about 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the shooting in the area of 12th Street and G Street, according to Merced Police Sgt. Jeremy Salyers. Arriving officers located a 37-year-old man and a 28-year-old man who had both been struck by gunfire.
The victims were transported to a Modesto area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Salyers said the men were at a family event outside of a residence and there was no indication of any type of altercation prior to the shooting.
According to police, witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored SUV that was last seen traveling eastbound on 12th Street. Salyers said authorities are working to locate any possible video surveillance from the area as well as attempting to speak with any possible witnesses.
According to Salyers, police have not identified a possible motive for the shooting.
