Merced police arrest three gang members in separate firearm allegations, police said
Three gang members were booked into the Merced County jail for separate cases of possession of firearms, the Merced Police Department said.
The Merced Police Gang Violence Suppression Unit on Saturday arrested Roy Maule after serving a search warrant at a residence in the 1600 block of Union Avenue in Merced. Police located a revolver in his bedroom. Police said Maule is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Larry Mays III was also arrested Saturday after being stopped on suspicion of a traffic violation in the 1200 block of D Street in Merced. Mays, who is on probation, was in possession of a loaded handgun, police said.
The weapon was reported stolen to the Merced Police Department in 2012 in an auto burglary. Police said Mays is a gang member and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Jesus Manuel Nieto Jr. was stopped by the Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit on Friday on suspicion of a vehicle violation in the 1800 block of I Street in Merced. Police detained Nieto after learning he was driving the vehicle on a suspended license. Police said they found a loaded revolver in his pocket.
According to police, the firearm had been reported stolen last year in Hughson.
