Man wounded in Merced shooting
A 25-year-old man was injured Thursday night in a shooting in front of an apartment complex in the 300 block of Q Street, Merced police reported.
Police responded to the scene around 11 p.m. after a man, described as black, was shot by unknown suspects who fled the scene.
The victim suffered gunshot wounds on his upper body, arms and legs. He was flown to a Modesto-area hospital for medical treatment and is expected to survive.
Police said the victim was uncooperative and would not provide a statement about what happened.
Witnesses on scene reported that they saw three Latino male adults, wearing dark clothing, running southbound through the apartments, according to Merced police.
Officers said they checked the area but were unable to locate any suspects involved in the case. Police said the motive of the shooting is unknown but several gang members have been contacted in that area.
