Man shot and killed in Merced County neighborhood, deputies say. Two people questioned
A man was shot and killed Saturday night in a Merced County neighborhood.
Deputies were en route to the shooting that happened at 7:30 p.m. at the 7100 block of Bobbi Avenue in Winton.
Several agencies responded to the scene and found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital and later died.
His identity is not being released, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators identified a person of interest at a nearby home. The home was surrounded and the SWAT team responded to help with the operation, deputies said.
Authorities went inside and couldn’t locate anyone, but later are talking to two persons of interest in connection with the case, deputies said.
